The Quebec Experience Program (Program de l’expérience québécoise, PEQ) candidate selection process, approved before November 1, has been revised again. New changes came into effect on November 14, 2019.
According to the changes that came into effect on November 1, only graduates with degrees and diplomas in certain areas of training and temporary foreign workers in occupations in demand could apply for selection under the PEQ. The reform of the program caused a tidal wave of controversy, and the authorities promised to review the changes.
On Thursday, November 14, the official website of Quebec published updated information on the PEQ selection process.
Candidates with diplomas confirming between 900 to 1,799 hours (inclusive) of training, who submitted their applications in the period between November 1 and 13 will be assessed against the criteria that were valid as of November 1, 2019.
According to these criteria, candidates must have a 6-month full-time work experience in Quebec, acquired after completing their study program in their area of training. The occupation should be also included in the list of areas of training that are most relevant to the Quebec labour market.
All other candidates who submitted applications during this period will be assessed against the criteria that applied before November 1, 2019.
