The Province of Ontario Has Updated the List of In-Demand OccupationsThree new popular professions have been added to the list, and work experience requirements have been lowered.

Ontario has added three new occupations under the PNP’s In-Demand Skills Stream for specialists who are working in in-demand occupations and have received a job offer in the province. Canada’s most populated province has also reduced work experience requirements to 9 months. Previously, candidates should have had a 12-month work experience over the past three years.

Occupations that have been added to the list (with NOC codes):

3413    Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates

4412    Home support workers, housekeepers and related occupations

7511    Transport truck drivers

All occupations under the In-Demand Skills Stream (with NOC codes):

3413 Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates

4412 Home support workers, housekeepers and related occupations

7441 Residential and commercial installers and servicers

7511 Transport truck drivers

7521 Heavy equipment operators (except crane)

8431 General farm workers

8432 Nursery and greenhouse workers

8611 Harvesting labourers

7611 Construction trades helpers and labourers

9462 Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers

The Ontario In-Demand Skills Stream requirements:

  • A full-time job offer in one of the occupations listed above with a wage that meets or is higher than the median wage level for that occupation in Ontario. For those who are already working in one of the occupations in the list, the wage offer must be equal to or higher than the current salary
  • 9 months of work experience in the past three years in one of the relevant occupations. Seasonal work does not count
  • A minimum of high school education
  • Valid work certificate or license, if required
  • A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 4 or higher for English or French in all four language abilities (reading, speaking, listening, writing)
  • Sufficient funds to support themselves and dependent family members
  • A valid permit to stay in Canada as a foreign worker, student or tourist unless the applicant is abroad
  • Intention to settle in Ontario
