During the latest Express Entry draws held on August 12 and 20 Canada sent a large number of invitations to apply while the cut-off score was lowered after a minor increase.
The Government of Canada issued 3,600 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to permanent residence candidates during the both Express Entry draws held on August 12 and 20, 2019.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)’s cut-off scores in these invitation rounds were 466 and 457, correspondingly. The score of the latest draw was the lowest one since May 1, 2019.

The draw held on August 12 was the third draw in a row in which 3,600 invitations were sent. This is the largest figure since January 23. The draw held on August 20 was held on Tuesday, which is a rare case. Since September 8, 2015, no draws were held on Tuesday.
This year, the total number of ITAs issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reached 56,200.
IRCC used the tie-break rule in the August draws. This means that all candidates with a CRS score of 466 or higher, who received ITAs in the draw held on August 12, submitted their profiles in the Express Entry system before August 6, 2019, 12:14:53 UTC. And candidates with a CRS score of 457 or higher, who received ITAs in the draw held on August 20, submitted their profiles in the Express Entry system before March 24, 15:32:42 UTC.
