Saskatchewan Offers C$20,000 Tax Credit to Graduates Who Move There

Saskatchewan Offers C$20,000 Tax Credit to Graduates Who Move ThereThe government of Saskatchewan is aimed to attract young talents to the province and so is now offering significant incentives to recent graduates.

Graduates from Canadian universities face an almost impossible task. Young people should know how to find a job in a high-competition labour market and challenge the high cost of living. The situation is especially tough for the recent graduates in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.

That is why more people aged between 22 and 30 are eyeing other places in Canada to put down new roots. To further motivate young people to change large cities for smaller communities, some provinces and municipalities offer quite attractive incentives.

For instance, in December 2018, the authorities of McAdam, New Brunswick were selling plots of land for just C$1 to Canadians who promised to move there and build houses for themselves.

And now Saskatchewan is offering C$20,000 tax credits to those who graduated from four-year programs resulting in a Bachelor’s degree. Three-year programs graduates can count on getting a C$15,000 tax credit.

These conditions apply to those who already live in Saskatchewan or are about to move there. It means that you do not have to live there when you apply. However, to claim the tax credit, you should to be physically present in Saskatchewan and file your tax declaration there.

Keep in mind that you can apply within seven years after graduation. And the tax credit is paid out over seven years. In each of the first four tax years, you receive 10% of your maximum rebate, and in each of the final three tax years, you receive 20%.

Saskatchewan is definitely a place to be considered seriously. For instance, you can rent a spacious two-bedroom flat in Regina for just C$1,050 per month. Try finding something similar in Toronto!
