Ontario’s Regional Immigration Pilot Program has started accepting applications from candidates!
The Province of Ontario has begun accepting applications from applicants through the Regional Immigration Pilot. To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the criteria for one of the streams under the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program’s Employer Job Offer category streams.
Under the Regional Immigration Pilot, you can immigrate to one of three pilot communities in Ontario, where candidates must also have a full-time permanent job offer. The following communities are involved in the pilot:
- Chatham-Kent
- Cornwall
- Quinte West/Belleville
The pilot program will run for two years, during which about 150 nominations will be issued.
The goal of the Ontario’s Regional Immigration Pilot Program is to connect highly skilled immigrants to jobs in small and rural Ontario communities. These specific communities were selected because of their specific labour challenges and their ability to help newcomers settle, among other factors.
Eligibility
As the name implies, applicants must have a full-time and permanent job offer from an employer located in one of the pilot communities. To be eligible for this program, a candidate does not need to be physically present in Canada.
Applicant to the Regional Immigration Pilot must meet the criteria for one of the streams under the OINP’s Employer Job Offer category:
- In-Demand Skills;
- Foreign Worker (applications under this stream are not accepted temporarily, but the requirements remain in force);
- International Student (applications under this stream are not accepted temporarily, but claims remain in force).
To apply for the Regional Immigration Pilot, applicants must complete a registration form and send it by e-mail to Ontario.
